Hippie / 70s night
At my weekly ladies golf league, I did not score as well as I did last week. Womp womp. I shot a 52. We played the back nine. The first six holes were awesome - but I kinda blew up on holes 16 & 17. I had 4 putts on hole 16 (ouch!) and on hole 17 I lost my touch on my sand wedge and played ping-pong over the green.
Positives: I parred hole 11, and bogied 13 & 15 - so those were good! I choose to recognize the good parts and then I will improve on the rest as I go. It’s tough only playing once a week. And on the other hand - at least I GET to play once a week! :-)
Char had braided pigtails - hard to tell from the pic here but very 70’s!
The theme tonight was 70’s or hippie. I did not have a good outfit for that. I choose comfort over costume. We will get back into the theme nights another week I suppose. These two had the right idea - tie dye shirts! They look fabulous.
It was a muggy night - mid 80’s, sun was shining, but humid. It almost felt nice on hole 14 which is shaded - so while we were driving the cart in the shade and the air was moving it felt OK. We had our snacks - I had pretzels, Char had a KIND bar, and I had my BodyArmor to keep hydrated.
This week I focused again on what I learned in my last lesson - how to hit from an uneven lie. Some of the shots worked and others I think I did not execute the right way.
I hit 3 out of 6 fairways. I hit 2 greens in regulation (11 & 15, par 3’s). I had just 2 putts on 7 out of 9 holes. So there are some things that are improving.
I always keep my own scorecard. I write down every club that I use, and keep track of greens in regulation, fairways hit and # of putts. Maybe it’s a little overkill now for me but I like the process of tracking everything and then I put it into the GHIN app afterwards. There was a time when I NEEDED to write every club down or else I forgot how many shots I took by the time I holed out… but now (a) I take a lot less shots and (b) I have played the course so many times now that I have a strategy on each hole and it’s not hard for me to remember what club I hit from where.
After the round, I stayed for a bit to split a turkey wrap with my partner Char and catch up with the other ladies as they came in from their round. Oh and I had a chocolate chip cookie too.
