Hickory Woods QCLL League-specific Policies
General
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your tee time to check-in and get a cart
Please play the gold tees.
Any players age 65+ can move forward to the orange tees to shorten their tee shot.
Gimme putts: On the green, if your ball lies closer to the hole than the distance from the lip of the cup to the bottom of the putter’s grip, assume your next putt would have holed out. Count that stroke and pick up. This will speed play.
Each player gets 1 mulligan per round, on a drive only. If you take a mulligan, you must play the second drive, not the better of the two.
Maximum on any hole is 4 over par. When you reach that number, pick up.
Flagstick can remain in while putting. Player can choose in or out. No penalty for hitting the stick. If your ball bounces off the stick, play it where it stops. If the ball wedges between the stick and the hole, consider it holed.
No penalty for accidentally touching the ball during a practice stroke or setting up for a stroke. Just put the ball back where it was. Remember, this is accidental touching. If you swing and miss, it still counts as a stroke.
No penalty if your ball hits you or your equipment accidentally after a stroke. Play it where it ends up.
You can take free relief if your ball is embedded in the fairway or rough. “Embedded” means part of the ball is below ground level.
Fine to “fluff” (set up) your ball in the rough where it lies.
Sub Policy
Please let your partner know and text the group in GroupMe app as soon as you know you’ll need a sub.
If you get a sub on your own (which often happens at dinner after a round), please tell Mary the name and date.
Subs pay $27 to the player they are subbing for. If you are playing with a sub, direct her to give the $27 to their playing partner or Mary, or collect the money yourself to pass on to the absent player or Mary.
Golf Courtesies
Please resist the temptation to go off early. Some members need time to arrive from work. So when the ranger asks you to go off early, just say no.
Please avoid non-emergency phone conversations during the round and limit socializing while others are preparing to putt or tee off.
Hickory Woods Golf Course Policies & Procedures - Updated 1-8-2025
When the course is open, the league is expected to play.
Single rider carts are not available during league play. Maximum two carts per foursome.
Outside alcohol is not permitted. If a league is found abusing this policy, they are subject to forfeiting their tee times and fees.
A league night is considered complete for your league as soon as the first group of the league finishes their ninth hole.
Maximum pace of play for league play is Two Hours and Thirty-Five minutes per nine holes per group.
Golfers play at their own risk, but if the weather horn is blown all players must return to the clubhouse and cart barn. Play can only resume when a member of the Hickory Staff has notified the league chairmen that play may continue.
In the event that a league night has been canceled an additional day will be added to the tail end of the league season. The league will play the opposite nine holes the next week, staying with the original schedule.
Make-up or pre-playing a league round can only be done Monday – Thursdays between the hours of 1:30-3:30 and are subject to available tee times. Make up or pre-play rounds played outside that time frame are subject to the regular round rates at that time.
League play will not be held on holidays such as Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day.
Warm up holes before league play are only offered if there is room available on the course. Players MUST schedule and check in and pay for those holes at the Golf Shop before heading out onto the course. The teaching area right of 3 fairway is reserved for private instruction only. Use of the teaching area before leagues is not permitted.
League members may play extra holes after their league round at a rate of $1 per hole. Players need to check in at the golf shop, the bar, or turn window. Extra holes are subject to available tee times and if a league is found abusing this courtesy, it will no longer be offered.
Cart Fee rain checks will only be honored and carried over to the following week if the league’s first group only completed 4 or less holes before getting rained out. (applicable only for leagues who purchase carts weekly).
If a league continues to get rained out and the make- up days extend past the “will not play past date”, Hickory Woods will issue Hickory Woods gift cards with the remaining balance as a refund to the league members.
